SignOnSanDiego: Victims worry Madoff will take secrets to prison

  • themezzer · 9 months ago
Word on the street is he lost some Mafia Bosses money. Not good. If I were his kids and wife I would bail the country. Thing is they were involved. The contracts are already out. To bad.
  • 21stCenturyTeaParty · 9 months ago
He'll probably die soon, he faces 150 years and will probably take his secrets to prison and the grave. The penthouse is probably the only thing or two left in his name. Some of his high profile investors don't exactly have the cleanest hands either.

You all know that there are more people involved in this thing though than they are letting on....
  • AskTheMexican · 9 months ago
The only thing he's sorry about is that he got caught and he won't be living in his NY penthouse anymore. The guy needs to do hard time with the general inmate population.
  • guesswhat · 9 months ago
Yeah!! He's sorry he lived long enough to see himself get caught! He's so sorry he's been shipping money off to relatives. This clown should be crane dangled from the window of the mentioned penthouse, right before it's auctioned off.
  • RushTheJunkieLimbaugh · 9 months ago
Seize all of his assets and then execute him. That will make others think twice before they attempt similar scams!
  • FailObamaFail · 9 months ago
Obama is doing the same thing right now!
  • KickRocks · 9 months ago
This story is completely mind boggling.

Madoff is roasted, but we'll be hearing about this for years...
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
    Madoff = Shylock
  • Crash · 9 months ago
you are a punk and an anti-semite.
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
How so? It is a reference to a Shakespearean play. Can you guess which one? How is this play anti-semeitic? Get a grip.
  • Crash · 9 months ago
The Merchant of Venice is an anti-semetic play that portrays Jews in a bad light. Why else would you compare Madoff to Shylock? Tell me why you compared him to Shylock. YOu can't explain it other than that you are an anti-semite.
During Shakespeare's day, money lending was one of the few careers open to Jews, since Jews were forbidden to charge interest to fellow Jews and Christians also followed Old Testament laws condemning usury charged to fellow Gentiles. In the 16th century, Christians regarded usury as a sin. However, Shylock's profession as a moneylender is still frequently used by critics to support claims of anti-Semitism in the play.
  • FailObamaFail · 9 months ago
Oh let him go. So he stole money from people who worked hard to earn it. He created lots of jobs in the process. Kind of like what Obama is doing for us now!
  • baja1963 · 9 months ago
I happen to find your comment most astute.....and gave me a laugh that is hard to acheive in these times.....THANK YOU, your wit is appreciated.
  • RushTheJunkieLimbaugh · 9 months ago
do you ever tire of sounding like a broken record?

I laugh my A#% off every time I read one of your posts. Thanks for entertaining us with your lack of wit!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  • FailObamaFail · 9 months ago
You can say ass. You won't offend me. I have to keep it simple for the simple minds who just repeat what John Stewart says or what they see on SNL. 3 years, 10 months to go on the repeats. I've learned from the left if you say it over and over, it eventually becomes true!
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
I really hate it when Madoff has this smirk on his face like he thinks what he did was humorous in some way. At leat one person committed suicide over this. What a pathetic, money-grabbing person.
  • madmonkeys · 9 months ago
Smart man wouldn't have gotten caught if he wouldn't have turned himself in!

Shows us all how well our government is doing protecting us...how do you miss 50 billion dollars in a ponzi scheme but catch Martha Stewart for selling 10k in stocks from information she got from someone inside the company?
  • temporarycalifornian · 9 months ago
I just posted a comment a moment ago that pointed out this was simply a case of one greedy Jew ripping off other greedy Jews. There is a list availble of all the names. Mostly Jewish. Now the posting is gone. Guess the greedy Jew owners of this paper don't want that aspect discussed here!
  • AskTheMexican · 9 months ago
Gee, I wonder why such a hateful post would be removed. Who woulda thunk it? Duh!

Shouldn't you be out burning crosses and watching Hitler youth videos right about now?
  • burntonit · 9 months ago
It doesn't happen often, but I agree with you on this one. temporarycalifornian has some serious hate issues.
  • temporarycalifornian · 9 months ago
You should check out the one I wrote specifically to you in the posts about
the school lunch stuff. And for the record, I don't begrudge anyone their
foolish religious beliefs. And it wasn't hateful, I was just stating facts.
On Fox News, they have a link to a list of investors/victims. Is it a
coincidence that the majority of the names are Jewish? Just like the
majority of the names of people who didn't pay their school lunch bill in CV
are probably spanish surnames? Just the facts, ma'm. You can try all you
want, but you won't draw me into the trashtalk of your ilk.
  • AskTheMexican · 9 months ago
Faux News......say no more. We now know all we need to know about you.

Attention advertisers, you too can reach this prime demographic.
  • Crash · 9 months ago
If I knew who you were I would b!^@h slap you, you anti-semite. Not everyone within the Jewish faith is a bad person but when you start calling all Jews greedy etc then we have a problem.

Jews have done more for America then you could ever think of.
At least 178 Jews and persons of half- or three-quarters-Jewish ancestry have been awarded the Nobel Prize,1 accounting for 23% of all individual recipients worldwide between 1901 and 2008, and constituting 37% of all US recipients2 during the same period.
In the scientific research fields of Chemistry, Economics, Medicine, and Physics, the corresponding world and US percentages are 27% and 40%, respectively. (Jews currently make up approximately 0.25% of the world's population and 2% of the US population.)

  • AskTheMexican · 9 months ago
I think it's pretty clear what kind of person we are dealing with here. People that talk like this, and make light of ones religion or ethnicity generally are not doing well in life. They are an angry lot and they tend to place the blame for their own sorry plight on others who are different from them. It's sad, but it's unfortunately the reality.
  • dlpweb3 · 9 months ago
Oh, GOD Diegoz! Don't get all in a dither and defensive with AsktheMex! The guy is certifiable and one of the biggest bigots here.

Just ignore him. Other Comments have some merit; his do not.
  • temporarycalifornian · 9 months ago
Go to Fox News and read the article about Madoff. Halfway down is a link to
a pdf file of the investors/victims. The majority of the names are obviously
Jewish. The indications here are most of these people expected "special" or
"extraordiary" returns on these investments. My point was that this
pervasive stereotype is only reinforced by the fact that most of those
involved were Jewish. Personally, I bear no ill will to anyone and would
never begrudge anyone their foolish religious beliefs. I'll thank you to
cease your gratuitous violent threats against me. I'm just making an
    observation. Peace to you.
  • burntonit · 9 months ago
You obviously know nothing about Jews, except that you hate them. Being Jewish is no more an indicator of subscribing to a religion than being caucasian means you are a skinhead. Most Jews are non-religious and a majority of the Jews in Israel and America are atheist. Being a Jew is primarily a cultural thing, not necessarily a religious thing. That they are financially successful obvously has you angry and jealous.

Maybe if you adopted some of their methods, you could enjoy some of their financial success.

And for the record, I'm not Jewish. I'm Christian and not ashamed of it.
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
I think Diegoz needs to read a little more Shakespear and less of the UT. Sheesh.
  • temporarycalifornian · 9 months ago
Ok....so now Judaism isn't a religion. I didn't say anything in any of my
postings about hating Jewish people!! I just made an observation about the
majority of the people involved! I'm quite successful on my own, without
"their methods", whatever that means. I'm not sure how you interpreted my
attitude as angry and jealous, either. Wow, all of this from making an
    observation of the facts.
  • Crash · 9 months ago
Yes, most people effected by the Madoff scandal were of the Jewish faith. But when you say that the "Jewish" editors have an agenda then we have a problem and that is why the comment was removed.
  • HonestInjun · 9 months ago
    Goodbye
  • HonestInjun · 9 months ago
No more bail. Madoff's going to jail.
  • burntonit · 9 months ago
I'm guessing they'll find him dead in his cell before sentencing.
  • sdfisherlady · 9 months ago
A REALLY good accountant should follow every dollar into his life and see where he deposited for his family under phony names in foreign countries, retrieve it/sell it and liquidate him. Then give at least a little money back to those folks who ended up penniless because of him. They will still loose the bulk of their investment, but maybe it would help ease their financial pain a little bit. He'll get to spend his life in luxury at a Fed. prison with all the rest of the high rollers and that's too bad too.
  • pakyuol · 9 months ago
This old man should be cut up into pieces and his remains fed to the fishes.
  • crunchhardtac · 9 months ago
There is no one easier to cheat than the greedy.
These investors took a risk. Everyone knew it was too good to be true, but they did it anyway.
I have very little sympathy for them.
The 1st rule of investing is do not put all you eggs in one basket. They were greedy and put their entire lifes savings in one basket and handed it over to someone who promised them huge returns that were out of this world.
Now they want to cry "poor me"!
Sorry. Stupid is as stupid does!
They insulted their neighbors and friends, telling them, you are no good because you are not on "Bernie's" lists. You are a nobody unless you are on "Bernie's list".
    Now who is the dummy!
Madoff is a crook. But crooks don't get away with this type of crime unless the contributors were not greedy dishonest investors.....
  • FreePB · 9 months ago
why should he even bother saying he is sorry. that is just one of many lies and is going to piss off people even more.
  • sd_native · 9 months ago
did anyone notice that he showed up in a Kia? I bet this guy had already long ago hidden his assets and shifted them so that his family is taken care of.

On the other hand, you know, things may not always be as they seem. He may have known all along going in that he was going to take down some pretty bad folks - such as if the Mafia boss rumor is true. He may not be such a bad guy here - one's got to question why he turned himself in so easily.

Now the Stanford guy - that's a different story.
  • SDborn56 · 9 months ago
WhyAskaMexican? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black......
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
Your supposed to say "Talk about the pot calling the kettel African-American".
  • SDkiteboarder · 9 months ago
I think your being unfairly harsh crunchhardtac. Naive would be a better description for these investors. Yes it was not wise to put all their eggs in one basket, but there is a big difference between them and Mr. Madoff. Mr. Madoff set out to make money and lots of it by ripping other people off. These investors simply wanted to make money. Nothing wrong with that. The ones who who have been hurt the most are possibly facing a life out in streets so I DO feel very sorry for them despite their bad decision to put all their money on one pile.
  • baja1963 · 9 months ago
As we get older, we prefer to have fewer piles, as we forget where we put things.
  • dlpweb3 · 9 months ago
THINK of the case of hemoroids this guy is going to end up with!
  • prairefire · 9 months ago
ASK THE MEXICAN and BURNONIT, yes, our TEMPORARY friend gets his info from FAUX New. Isn't it interesting that they recently apologized for having a self-avowed anti-Semite as a guest giving a "responsible" POV? I wonder when CNN is going to apologize for having a Nativist hosting one of their programs.
  • Typ311Dave · 9 months ago
This guy will be dead before sentencing in June, or shortly thereafter.
  • Crash · 9 months ago
Aw come on sizzlechest. You really think I am that stupid? The Merchant of Venice is an anti-semetic play and you darn well know it or else you wouldn't have made the comparison.
So why did you compare Madoff to Shylock? Only an anti-semite would have thought of something so terrible.
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
    C'mon Hyme :D
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
That is ridiculous. Calling someone a Shylock does not make them an anti-semite, unless an ultra-paranooid zionist here's/reads it, then the person who makes the comment is automatically an anti-semite. The term anti-semite has lost its original meaning since people like you throw it around anytime a potentially negative comment about Jews, Israel, etc., are made. Give me a break. Trying to use your "you are an anti-semite by default" logic fails and you should move on with your life. You should change your name to Hyme.
  • Adrian Veidt · 9 months ago
Nice to know the SEC, the watchdog for this stuff, was fully asleep and otherwise completely oblivious to a scam that should have been low lying fruit. But, wait, they missed Enron, too....

    Who Watches the Watchmen?
  • prairefire · 9 months ago
DIEGOZ, IF THE MERCHANT OF VENICE is in fact anti-Semetic, you'll never hear from it from academia because the bard is pretty much a Sacred Cow.
  • sizzlechest · 9 months ago
    Thank you. Diegoz=paranoid
  • Goodguy1 · 9 months ago
I think this clown should be sentenced to a level 3 yard here in Chino California at CIM. He will give free fraud advice to the wonderful cons there just before they waste him. I hate to burst everyones bubble, but when I was working county jail, I had to take an inmate to Lompoc Federal Pen in Santa Barbara.

My partner ans I were in shock when I saw convicts, like this Madoff, out of the prison grounds with weed whackers and rakes without supervision of any kind (voluntary obviously-think f the damage to the manicured nails). The inmate I was transporting explained those were guys like Madoff and there are less supervised than he was (my inmate was EME in on a 23 year bank stretch).

He then pointed out there tennis courts in their yard (for Madoff type criminals) and their 9 hole golf coarse. My jaw hit the floor. He further explained the federal system considers these inmates a minimal threat ( and since they have political connections and civil rights) they get a easy piece of time. Only the mob gets to be where my inmate was at. Remember Charles Keating in the 1980's? Guess where he was housed during his stint? Federal Pens that have those ammenities just like this reserved for white collar criminals.
  • lumbertwome · 9 months ago
This is clascic example of greed and those investor who got scam did'nt go in with their eyes close and some of them probably made a lot of undeclared income .The scam paid the initial investor from what the later investor invest. This started over ten years ago,if whoever put money for that long and just complain now maybe because their invesment did not mutiply ten times as promised, maybe it only tripple ,and those income is not being tax .
the bottom line is greed will eventually get you,the greedy investor maybe think of better way of samming the IRS,and it backfired.
  • lumbertwome · 9 months ago
failObamafail I agree with y.ou ,only he is too smart to get caught.
They will blame it on bush.
  • Goodguy1 · 9 months ago
A fitting punishment might be to place he and his wife in the nice cosey two-man cell listed in the other article. Then, give them access to items that can be used to make a shank. Install a video camera and make it a new reallity show or pay per view program; better yet, allow bets to be placed on the Vegas Sports Book. I think a significant amount of money lost could be recovered by doing this. I bet she would kill him inside of a week. A higher payoff can doled out to the person closest to the actual time of death. Just a thought.....
  • sHARI · 9 months ago
HES NOT SORRY, HE IS JUST SORRY HE GOT CAUGHT. THEY SHOULD TAKE ALL HIS MONEY FROM VARIOUS BANK ACCOUNTS I AM SURE HE HAS ELSEWHERE AND WE COULD TAKE CARE OF HALF THE U.S. DEFICIT, AND GET BILL GATES TO TAKE CARE OF THE REST!!!!
  • SDkiteboarder · 9 months ago
I wish they would give him the death penalty but only after he pays back every dime. Then his wife should be arrested and ultimately given the 150 year sentance.
  • serenitynow! · 9 months ago
Look at the lives he has ruined, absolutely devastating. Put him in the streets & let the victims stone him, after every dime he has hidden has been found.
  • FailObamaFail · 9 months ago
Look at the wealth Obama has destroyed in 50 days of being in office! This spending will come back and bite us in the ass in the form of skyrocketing inflation. Madoff is a distraction.
  • RushTheJunkieLimbaugh · 9 months ago
please enlighten us with "the wealth Obama has destroyed in 50 days of being in office!"

are you holding Obama responsible for corrections in the stock market???

He needs the full term in Prison. Their is no way he should ever have a chance to live in luxury again. He has money hidden. Strip him/wife/family of everything they cannot prove they earned away from his scam.
  • Rezqewr · 9 months ago
Waterboard him until he coughs up all of the money. Then execute him.

God Bless Amerika, and God Bless the Second Amendment!!!
  • Normbc9 · 9 months ago
This sleaze now says he's sorry! Ahem! He has been doing this for decades. The only reason to express sorrow now is to seek a lenient sentence. He hides his assets with his wife and others offshore and now expects the court to be understanding? I sure hope the court sends this crook to jail for the rest of his life. But he has contacts and I don't think he was operating alone either.
  • UBL · 9 months ago
Guess you can't say do*chebag or a*swipe on here, but you can post anti-semetic comments...hmmmm. Glad that my post got deleted and that one didn't.
  • temporarycalifornian · 9 months ago
Hey askamexican, I'm just about done with you to get back to work earning my well-above average salary. Fox News is one of the many sources I get my news every day. They happen to be the ones that posted the prosecution's pdf file of the investors/victims. Am I a racist for reading that document and making an observation about he the names on the list? Whatever. You just go on spouting you racist hate toward white people and I and others like me will tolerate your extreme ideologic and religious views. You should be happy to be in a country where you are free to express your opinion no matter how fanatic or unreasonable. By the way, I am exactly the demographic advertisers are trying to reach. White, affluent, under 50, and proud of it.
