SignOnSanDiego: U-T Editorial: Total (and political) recall

Public employee unions will go to any length to keep the tax drain going in their direction. The voters in Oceanside should reject this recall and take control over city spending.

So the truth is out...Shari Mackin, and those who pull her strings behind the scenes are trying to keep Oceanside in circa 1970's politics-as-usual. Voters, use your power at the polls and put a stop to this once and for all. If you pay taxes (and those against the recall overwhelmingly are among those who pay the most), tell these "civil servants" who they are serving and who pays their paychecks!

This recall is a requirement for the average citizen to vote YES! Kern has given away favors to his developer/donor buddies and put all kinds of junk development in our beautiful coastal town. See the recall website for the REAL FACTS.

Yes, it is about job performance. Any council man who will publicly say no one will ever notice an asphalt plant about 2 miles from the beach, 3 miles from downtown, next to 1000 newer homes and next to a river has to be recalled. He wants to destroy Oceanside and that asphalt plant by itself will do it. All the bikers along the river bike trail will have to be issued gas masks.

Then we can talk about all the developer fees that will never be paid while infrastructure is built at the residents expense for those developments. Then we need to talk about a landscaping project at a cost of $1 million just approved by him that should have been covered by developer fees but will be paid for by general funds while he was voting to cut an ambulance that will then cause a mutual aid agreement with other cities to become void. Yes, vote recall to save our city.

Thank you for the truth on Oceanside's scandalous, union-based recall campaign.
With hope, your editorial writers will someday review the flaws in today's election laws where petition signature collectors can lie to shoppers emerging from stores about the true intent of the petition.
One signature collector in this campaign told me Jerry Kern was opposed to veterans housing and seniors housing, without presenting a thread of evidence to that effect.
And, that collector didn't know Jerry Kern is an Air Force veteran who is committed to veterans.
Lastly, regarding Ms. Maklin, and her blindly anti-improvement Beach Preservation organization, it should be mentioned how that group opposed the Manchester beach front proposal, failing to mention that it collected $10,000 from developer Jim Watkins, who eventually gained the first approval to build on the beach front.
